Gastrointestinal
The gastrointestinal treatment centers offer comprehensive care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, including cancers of the colon, rectum, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, anus, bile duct (cholangiocarcinoma), liver, gallbladder, and small bowel, as well as carcinoid and islet cell malignancies. Services are provided by a team that includes medical oncologists; radiation oncologists; colorectal, gastrointestinal, and oncologic surgeons; and gastroenterologists, with consultative support from gastrointestinal pathologists and gastrointestinal diagnostic and interventional radiologists.
These centers provide the latest treatments, including investigational therapies, for gastrointestinal cancers, encompassing the most recent advances in surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. These include intraoperative radiation therapy, radiofrequency treatment, percutaneous cryosurgery, endoscopic ultrasonography, and endoscopic biliary stent placement. In addition, patients have access to genetic counseling; molecular diagnostic testing; and support services, including social work, nutrition counseling, and educational and support groups.
